Second International Conference on Adventist Theology and Mission in Africa Held at the Adventist University of Africa, Nairobi, Kenya

From August 30 to September 2, 2017, members of BRI participated in the 2nd International Conference on Adventist Theology and Mission in Africa, held at the Adventist University of Africa, Nairobi, Kenya. Frank Hasel and Clinton Wahlen, together with Michael Campbell of AIIAS and other presenters from across Africa examined the topic of “Biblical Hermeneutics: Implications and Applications in the Context of Africa. Topics for the plenary sessions included Issues in Biblical Interpretation, Biblical Hermeneutics and the SDA Pioneers, and the Impact of Culture on Biblical Hermeneutics.

International Bible and Mission Conference held in Sofia, Bulgaria

From May 29–31, 2017 BRI was involved in the International Bible and Mission Conference held in Sofia, Bulgaria. Artur Stele, Galina Stele, Elias Brasil de Souza, Jiří Moskala, and Kleber Gonsalves lectured to an audience of about seventy pastors who serve the Bulgarian Union of Seventh-day Adventist Churches.

Bible Conference held in Southern Asia Division

At the end of March and beginning of April 2015 a Division wide Bible Conference for pastors of the Southern Asia Division of Seventh-day Adventists took place in Hapur, India. This Bible conference as many others was organized by the Biblical Research Institute and the Southern Asia Division. Main lecturers were Dr. J. Moskala, Dr. E. Mueller, Dr. Á. Rodríguez, and Dr. Stele. A variety of topics was presented in order to address the needs of the pastors in this field. They ranged from topics on the Trinity, the Holy Spirit, Last Generation Theology, Daniel 11 to lectures on the Book of Revelation, including the occult/spiritualism in Revelation. There were rich conversations, question and answer periods, and a spirit of harmony. At the end of the formal meetings the Division provided a trip to the Taj Mahal, an unforgettable experience to the pastors, administrators, and lectures. This Bible conference made a difference in the lives of many.

Ministerial Council held in Central Brazil Union

 

On February 1-5, 2015, Artur Stele, Ekkehardt Mueller, and Ángel Manuel Rodríguez were guest speakers for the Ministerial Council of the Central Brazil Union in Sao Paulo, Brazil. They spoke to more than 600 pastors about ecclesiology, eschatology, and current trends in Adventist Theology. The attendees were actively involved in the Q&A session that concluded each conference.

Bible Conference held in Chilean Union

 

In the second part of January 2015, four of the Conferences/Missions of the Chilean Union held conferences for pastors, the North Chile Mission in Antofagasta, the Metropolitan Chile Conference in Olmue, the Pacific Chile Mission in Limache, and the Austral Chile Conference in Pucon. Among others Dr. Ekkehardt Mueller was invited to present lectures on the book of Revelation and answer relevant questions. He also preached in Antofagasta and Temuco. The spirit among the pastors and among the church members in Antofagasta during the Sabbath afternoon meeting was very good, and the administration must be commended for having in place a strong continuing education program of their pastors.

On August 2, 2014, Ekkehardt Mueller and Elias Brasil de Souza were guest speakers for the Bible Conference held in the city of Porto Alegre in the South of Brazil. During the Sabbath they spoke to more than 500 church elders, bible workers, and pastors of the Rio Grande do Sul central conference about the book of Revelation, Eschatology, and the Sanctuary. Geri Mueller (Ekkehardt’s wife) addressed a group of more than three hundred women with an inspiring devotional message. The meetings continued on August 3-4 with the pastors and administrators of the conference, when topics such as the interpretation of Revelation, Eschatology, biblical worldview, and current trends in sexuality were addressed.

West Indonesian Union Mission and Bible Conference Held in Lembang, Java

More than 500 ministers and administrators attended the Mission and Bible conference of the West Indonesian Union in Lembang, Java. The theme of the conference was “Revived by His Word.” Guest speakers were Drs. Ganoune Diop, Nikolaus Satelmajer, and Gerhard Pfandl. The three-day conference covered issues in mission,  theology, and ministry. The lectures included such topics as “Adventist Identity, Mission and Message,” “The Minister and Ethics,” “The Leader God Wants You to Be,” “The Identity of the Remnant Church,” and “The  Interpretation of the Writings of Ellen White.” Each day had a “Question and Answer” period which produced many questions and led to lively discussions.  

Bible Conference held in Almaty, Kazakhstan

BRI with the support of the Euro Asia Division held a Bible Conference in the city of Almaty, Kazakhstan, September 5-10, 2013. Lecturers from the General Conference and the Euro-Asia Division gave seminars on biblical, theological, and practical topics to an audience of about one hundred pastors of the Southern Union.  Artur Stele, Ángel M. Rodríguez, and Elias Brasil de Souza represented BRI for this event.

Biblical Research Committee of the West-Central Africa Division

The BRC of WAD met for the third time to discuss the theology of ordination in order to be able to present a report to the Theology of Ordination Study Committee (TOSC). The meeting was held in the Univeristé Adventiste Cosendai, Cameroon. Representatives of BRI were Drs. Donkor and Mueller. The discussion was lively and intense and yet was carried on with courtesy and mutual respect.
